The Guardian (LONDON) – Quilliam, a London counter-extremism think tank, investigated IS methods of indoctrinating and raising children as a new generation of Jihadists. With up to 30,000 foreign recruits, IS trains the children in violence and naturalizing IS ideology from a very young age. Thousands of IS Uniforms Seized In Spain

NPR (MADRID) – Spanish authorities seized 20,000 units of camouflage military uniforms and accessories bound for Islamic State militants in Syria. Found in three shipping containers, authorities seized the supplies in ports in Valencia and Algeciras. Taliban Refuses Participation In Afghan Peace Talks

Reuters (KABUL) – The Taliban refused participation in peace talks brokered by Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and the United States claiming Mullah Akhtar Mansour, the new leader of the Taliban, never authorized participation in the negotiations. Mansour laid down preconditions before participating in negotiations which includes western withdrawal from Afghanistan. Infighting and breakaway factions make it difficult for the Taliban to come to consensus on many major decisions. Source: (Reliability: High)

Philippines Seize North Korean Cargo Ship As Per UN Sanctions Agreement

BBC News (MANILA) – The Philippine Coast Guard seized the Jin Teng, a North Korean cargo ship, as part of its UN member duty to enforce heavy sanctions on North Korea after its nuclear weapons and missile tests. The Jin Teng sails for Ocean Maritime Management, a North Korean shipping company blacklisted by the UN security council for previous sanction violations. Despite some safety issues, the ship is clear of any violations. The government plans on impounding the ship and deporting the crew post-inspection. Source: (Reliability: High)

Angela Merkel Urges Greece To Shelter Its Refugees

Reuters (BERLIN) – Angela Merkel, Prime Minister of Germany, urges Greece to provide decent accommodations for 50,000 Syrian refugee as per EU agreement. Merkel pledged EU aid in this matter as Greece’s difficulties with managing the refugees culminates from Balkan border closings, Austrian border closings and the economic state of Greece. US Delivers Eight Black Hawk Helicopters to Jordan

3 March 2016

The Washington Post AP (AMMAN) – The United States delivered eight refurbished Black Hawk helicopters to Amman as part of a military aid package to assist Jordan in its fight against Islamic State and secure its borders. US Ambassador to Jordan, Alice Wells, officiated the handoff ceremony, stating the US’ support of Jordan’s cause. The US plans sending eight more upgraded Black Hawk helicopters by the end of 2017.
