Government & Main Opposition Forces Accept US-Russia Ceasefire

BBC News (MIDDLE EAST) – The Syrian Government Forces and the main umbrella opposition group both agreed to a cease fire effective starting this weekend. The truce does not apply to so called Islamic State or Al-Nusra. The cease fire is conditional based on UN Security Council Resolution 2254 which calls on all parties to lift sieges, allow aid deliveries, halt aerial and artillery attacks on civilians, and release detainees. Both sides must formalize their answers by Friday at noon. Source: (Reliability: High)

UN Finds Deliberate Destruction Of Hospitals In Syria

New York Times (UNITED NATIONS) – The latest of UN inquiries on the war in Syria, released Monday, indicate deliberate destruction of healthcare infrastructure by government forces and the so called Islamic State in order to expedite increased casualties among rebel held towns. The blatant war crimes perpetrated by both sides show a complete disregard for the rules of war. The report indicates other crimes such as slave markets as well. Source: (Reliability: High)

Turkey Demands US Support Against Syrian Kurdish Militants

Reuters (ANKARA) – Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu called on the US to aid Turkey in fighting the Syrian Kurdish YPG after the recent bombings in Ankara. Turkey believes the organization to be involved, but the US refused to back Turkey as it “is not in a position to confirm or deny Ankara’s charge.” In addition, the US does not recognize the Syrian Kurdish YPG as a terrorist organization and supports it in the Syrian Conflict. King of Jordan Meets President Barack Obama Tomorrow In Washington

Petra (AMMAN) – King Abdullah II, King of Jordan, left Amman today to travel to Washington DC in order to meet with US President, Barack Obama. The agenda includes strengthening the ties between Jordan and the US, counter-terrorism strategies, the Syrian conflict and resolving the deadlock in Palestine-Israel to come to a peaceful conclusion based on the Two State Solution. UN Releases Surveys On Refugees Arriving In Greece

UN Refugee Agency (UNITED NATIONS) – Surveys conducted on refugees arriving in Greece and its associated islands shows strong results. 94% of Syrians arriving in Greece fled the destruction and violence in Syria while 71% of Afghans arriving in Greece cite similar violence and conflict as their reason for fleeing as well. The UN use these studies in order to better accommodate refugees and learn how to deal with mass refugee movements in the future. Source: (Reliability: High)
